sunglasses or goggles skiing
What to wear when going skiing?

Ok so tomorrow I am going downhill skiing for the first time! I am so excited! But I want to know what would be best to wear so i stay comfortable and warm! I Know that its best to stay away from cotton! Is Polyester or Wool ok? Should I wear snow pants? Do I need goggles or sunglasses? Should I wear long Johns? Anything on what to wear skiing would be helpful! Thanks! :D

Feet- your warmest pair of HIGH socks. Reaching to mid-calf.
– don’t worry too much about shoes because you’re going to be wearing ski boots anyways.

Legs- long johns is good or a pair of warm tights for underneath
– a nice warm pair of flexible pants. Most likely sweat pants, but ones that aren’t too low in the crotch because that will make the snow pants fit uncomfortably. Make sure they aren’t too short and aren’t too long. Stay away from restricting pants like jeans.
– SNOW PANTS. Very important, especially on your first time. They will help to stay warm and also keep you dry when you fall! Make sure they fit ok, and reach down to your ankles. It’s helpful if they have that inner layer near the ankles that you can tuck into your boots.

Torso- If you’re a girl, then wear a bra where the straps aren’t going to be sliding down your shoulders all the time, it can get pretty annoying!
– An undershirt is good, maybe a tank top, camisole, or tight fitting long sleeve shirt.
– Another shirt, long sleeve. Not too loose.
– A nice warm sweater. The fabric doesn’t matter too much. Go by YOUR preference. What keeps you the warmest? What’s the most comfortable? That’s the most important.
– A water-proof coat. Water-proofs normally protect against wind as well so you should be ok with that.
– Still think your going to be chilly? Add another layer! Layers are your best friend.

Hands- I normally just wear a nice pair of warm, WATER-PROOF gloves. AVOID MITTENS. Restricting your fingers aren’t a good idea with sports.
– If your gloves aren’t that warm add a pair of cotton gloves underneath. They’re tight fitting so you’ll barely notice they’re there.
– Make sure your gloves reach at least to the end of your jacket. This will keep snow from getting into your sleeves.

Head, Neck- a nice scarf is good. One that will cover your whole neck and the bottom of your face and keep you warm. Make sure it isn’t TOO LONG. Long scarves can get caught in the lifts and choke you. This goes for anything loose from your body.
– A hat that will cover your ears, head, forehead.
– Goggles are optional. I personally don’t wear them but some people find that the wind irritates your eyes making them tear up, especially if it’s snowing. This can worsen visibility. If you aren’t comfortable with this idea then go with goggles.
– A helmet is a good idea, especially for first times and terrain parks. Be safe!

I believe that’s it! Good luck, and have fun :)
